Special Projects

Special Projects: Silk and cotton are very versatile mediums and I will be happy to apply my expertise and work with you if you have your own creative ideas.

Here are some examples of projects I have been involved in:
“Nittany Lion” was a Penn State Fund Raiser painted on a cement like substance. This particular variety of art works well in a garden or home.

I had the honor of creating a bedspread and sliding glass door panel, painting on 35′ of cotton, for Mrs Dean Dupont who resides in the Virgin Islands. She chose sunflowers and orchids on this very durable medium.

Wall Partition: The two shown are all hand painted, and I must say, these photos do not portray their breathtaking beauty. “The Black Peacock” and “Love Cranes” are painted with iridescent paint on black silk and then quilted in gold thread. The paintings are symbolic of a realistic environment as the feather plumes are real, taken from birds that have been humanly cared for.

The next “Fish Panel” is an extremely complex process, hand painted with dyes that have luster and are able to capture more of the beauty and detail within. To enhance this luster, fiber optics have been incorporated
into this intricate piece of art, portraying a “quilt in nature” as all the fish are “stuffed” as in trapunto. As you can see, these fibers allow for many kinds of innovative creations.

Lite wire is another way to add dimension and life to clothing, pillows and paintings. Here, we show two paintings lit up with lite wire. The first is called “Back Story” which takes place on Bleeker Street in
New York City. This painting symbolizes the atmosphere of the 60’s and 70’s, showing music, flags, peace signs, flowers, and tea shops. It is said that Bob Dylan played in many of the bars on Bleeker Street.
The lite wire in this picture subtly enhances the life and force of that powerful and shocking era that lives on today.

Another Painting called “ Scaling the Walls” is lit up with three different colored lite wires. “The Great Wall of China”, “The Brooklyn Bridge”, “ Washington Square of New York City with it’s Musician Life” and “The Berlin Wall” are also subtly lit.

Feel free to use the ideas from this website, or if you prefer, your own ideas which may have personal meaning and symbolism. You can incorporate any of the mediums and specialty lightings into your chosen piece of art (paintings, clothing, pillows, partitions, etc..), enhancing their uniqueness and one of a kind quality and rarity.

Your designs will be first sketched, and upon approval, the artwork will begin. We will work closely during the project, fine tuning for your personal touch.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. As you can see this is a passion and gift that I am very grateful for. Sharing my creations with others is truly an honor and joy I can not express in words.
